COMING SOON: BRICKHOUSE GALLERY SHOW (SACRAMENTO, CA)

Nix Toxic art will be shown at the BrickHouse Gallery in Sacramento, CA on July 12th for a group show entitled "Curious Band of Artists". This will be an absolutely amazing evening of some of the nation's most prolific artists, with a good selection of them being fellow members of my art collective AOA - Alternative Online Artists (www.aoacollective.com).

"MICKEY HANSEN" ©2008

ABOUT THE ORIGINAL:
"MICKEY HANSEN" was originally hand painted on a vintage photograph from the WWII era, hence the use of the WWII era Mickey Mouse gas mask (see below). Conveniently, the name of the child in the original portrait was written on the back of the photo with blue ink pen... Michael Hansen. Media used on the 11.5" x 9" piece included oil paint, spray paint, nail polish, colored pencil, and polyurethane.

THE GAS MASK:
"The Mickey Mouse gas mask was designed and produced by Sun Rubber Company in 1942 with hopes that children would carry it and wear it as part of a game... to give them something that would work and still be fun..."
